Key Ingredients & Their Benefits
1. Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi)
In Ayurvedic hair care, Jatamansi is prized for strengthening hair roots, reducing hair fall, and promoting healthy scalp circulation.
It’s also used to delay premature greying because of its antioxidant effects.
Jatamansi in oil form helps soothe the scalp and has a calming, nourishing effect.
2. Hibiscus (often “Sembaruthi / Javakusum” flower)
Hibiscus is rich in amino acids and vitamins, which help condition hair, making it softer and more manageable.
It supports hair growth by stimulating dormant follicles.
Hibiscus also helps prevent premature greying (thanks to its antioxidants) and reduces dandruff / scalp irritation.
3. Chethi / Chethipoo (“Ixora” Flower)
“Chethi” likely refers to Ixora (a flowering shrub), which is used in traditional hair oil formulations.
In traditional / community sources, the ixora flower is used for hair-strengthening, scalp health, and as part of herbal hair oil blends.
It may help with scalp ailments (like dandruff or mild inflammation), but direct scientific studies are limited — its use is more traditional / Ayurvedic.
4. Coconut Oil (Base)
Coconut oil is a very common carrier oil for herbal infusions: it penetrates the hair shaft well, locks in moisture, and reduces protein loss from hair.
It has mild antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which help keep the scalp healthy.
Combined Effect / Synergy
This oil would combine deep nourishment + strengthening + scalp calming.
Jatamansi supports the roots, hibiscus gives growth stimulus and conditions, and ixora (chethi) adds a traditional medicinal herb effect.
The coconut oil base ensures good absorption and provides lipid-rich moisture.
Dosha / Ayurvedic Angle
This blend is likely cooling (Pitta-balancing): hibiscus and coconut both have cooling properties.
It can pacify dryness (Vata) because of the unctuousness (oiliness) of coconut oil + the nourishing effect of jatamansi.
But if overused, it could feel heavy for some Kapha-type scalps, so usage frequency must be moderate.
